I did it. I traded in my SUV. I loooooved my X-terra and there were a few tears when I traded it in, but the gas mileage was killing me. Andrew picked out the color (I swear, he did. He kept pointing to the grey one). It's a great car and the mileage is wonderful. It has a lot of extras that my X-terra didn't have but trunk space is NOT one of them. lol
My beloved X-terra. Andrew traveled through 10 states in this car.
The new beauty.
Do you like the color I picked out? I'm a little bit closer to Mommy now so it's easier for her to hand me snacks.
I'm KING of the car! (As you can see, I take the job VERY seriously)
Spending time at the zoo with our friends, The Cash Crew.
Eating a plate of french fries at an outside table. Heaven. Mmmmm.....ice cream. Giving the pools a test drive. Visiting the Shedd Aquarium with Amie, Tim and Lucas. Splashing in the sprinkler with Nicholas. My very own pool.....niiiiiice. You can find more Summer Lovin' at http:kissthefrog4me.blogspot.com
This weekend, I found out that Andrew has a birth sister here in the U.S.!! I didn't even know that his birth mom had given up any other children for adoption. His sister is five and her name is Isabella. I talked to her mom last night for about 45 minutes and she had great information about Andrew's birth mom and his other siblings. Andrew and Isabella do not live near each other, but her mom and I will stay in touch and make sure they know about each other. At some point, we want them to meet. I'm SO excited.
Can you believe how much they look alike? Princesa Isabella
Kathy and Nicholas invited us over to play in the sprinkler yesterday. Andrew was very unsure of it at first, but Nicholas showed him how much fun it was and then he was a little bit more willing to play. It also helped that it was a Backyardigans sprinkler featuring his favorite character, Pablo.
This morning, we went to the Shedd Aquarium with some friends from out of town. Amie and I met online when she and Tim were adopting Lucas from Guatemala. He will be 2 on July 6!! We had a great time with them and the boys liked seeing all the animals.
Looking at the fish stuck to the glass:
Lucas clapping for the dolphins:
Checking out the Beluga whales:
The Wild Reef exhibit has a plexi-glass floor you can walk on and watch the sting rays swimming under your feet.
On Wednesday, we went to Portillo's for hamburgers, beef sandwiches and fries. (I know, I gave my son cheese fries twice in one week, but it was a very special week--we're back to our healthy eating next week.) Andrew actually ate quite a bit of my hamburger with his fries which makes it MUCH healthier. ;)
Grandad did a funny trick where he pretended to throw something in the air and then flicked the back of the paper bag with his finger to make it sounded like something had landed in the bag. You can see at the end of the video what Andrew thought of Grandad's trick.
This is what happens when you eat too many cheese fries.
